Training

Whether your business provides a product or service Mr. Scott Morrison can help you implement or improve your management system. Mr. Morrison is an expert resource for consulting, training, and auditing needs for:

ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Trainer- This is a two day course that is designed for those who are new to internal auditing. The training consists of ISO Awareness Training for one-half day and Internal Auditor Training for the remaining 1-1/2 days. The first half-day introduces the participants to the ISO 9001:2015 Standard. The remaining 1-1/2 days provide instruction on establishing an internal audit program, identifying auditor traits and auditing techniques, and provides information on planning and conducting internal audits. The course includes several workshops and is presented as customized course for your organization's quality system.

ISO 9001:2015 - This all-inclusive three day course covers the basic requirements of ISO 9001:2015.  You will learn about the history and development of ISO 9000 series of standards, the global approach to standardization and the key steps in the registration process.  Participants will understand the ISO 9001 elements and quality system implementation requirements from a strategic quality system planning standpoint.  The discussion focuses on the practical issues professionals will face in the planning and implementation process.  Documentation requirements will be discussed as will quality manual development.  Other topics include audit planning, the linkage among and between quality management system elements and the tools and techniques for continual improvement.

ISO 14001:2015 - This half-day overview is targeted to the senior management and system implementation personnel such as the management representative.   The overview presents the core principles of the 14001 standard with a brief description of the guidelines related to ISO 14001.  The overview is intended address the core elements of the standard and provides an understanding of the effort that might be involved to certify to this international environmental management standard.  This overview is also applicable for government agencies the must comply with Executive Order 13423, “Strengthening Federal Environmental, Energy and Transportation Management”.

ISO 14001: 2015 Implementation & Auditing - This course is designed for those new to ISO 14001 who are seeking a thorough understanding of this standard and its application in their company.  In three comprehensive days, you will understand the basic elements of how to develop, implement, and audit an ISO 14001 environmental management system.  This is a hands-on course and uses practical workshops and exercises to enhance the learning process.  This course will provide what you need to know and how to develop and maintain a certifiable ISO 14001 environmental management system.

Integrated Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Management System -

This two day course presents an integrated approach for quality, environmental, health and safety management systems and identifies options for integrating ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental and  ISO 45001 Health and Safety standards.  This course will help you recognize the system implementation level(s) your company may have already established and those that need development or further integration.  It is assumed that you have one or more of these management systems implemented.

Those new to the integration concept will learn the pluses and minuses to implementing an integrated system.  Those experienced with integration will learn valuable tips to avoid pitfalls, false starts and duplication of effort.  Everyone will leave the course with an understanding of the potential rewards and the potential costs involved with a decision to integrate.

Emphasis is placed on using universally accepted conformance-based international standards and builds on the cornerstones of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and  ISO 45001.  This course can be customized for other standards as well such as ISO 28000 Supply Chain Security or API Q1 / ISO/TS  29001 Quality Systems.

Details of the individual elements of each system are presented, including their relationships with the other systems.

Learn what elements are common with the different systems and what is unique to each.  You will understand how to leverage common elements and how to consolidate multiple operating procedures required of the different standards into single common documents.

Process Mapping - This is a one day course / workshop that can be expanded depending on the scope of mapping needed and any further facilitation desired.

Process mapping is the graphic display of the steps in a work process.  The focus of this class is to understand the tools and techniques of mapping a process.  Well mapped processes lead to clarity, and a shared understanding of how a process operates and how the mapped process is linked with other organizational processes.  Process mapping is an excellent technique to learn and apply in your organization to demonstrate understanding of the process approach to quality, safety & health or environmental management.

While ISO 9001:2015 does not prescribe the methodology to apply the process approach in your organization, process mapping will enable you to confidently demonstrate to yourselves and others that you can identify your process and their interactions.  You will also be equipped with tools for continual improvement for which the process map establishes the framework.

As facilitated by the instructor, participants will map the management system or parts of it from beginning to end.

Participants will then be asked to identify a process of their own within the system and map it in class, based on the model presented by the instructor.  Participants will be able to identify the value added and non-value added steps, and identify where to focus improvement effort and where to apply performance measures.

Process Auditing - This one day course is designed for those familiar with traditional auditing techniques and who wish to apply audit techniques to processes—including but not limited to—operating procedures.  In addition to assessing conformance to requirements, process audits can help you assess performance to goals.

Better throughput, reduced variation, process simplification, improved costs and better quality are goals of process auditing.

When you finish this course you will have a better understanding of what value added means and how this concept helps drive continual improvement required by all the management system standards.

Six Sigma Green Belt and Related Courses - Six Sigma is a proven set of data and information based problem solving and analytical tools and techniques that enable efficiency and cost savings.

If you already have ISO certification or just know some areas of your business that need improvement the Six Sigma or “Green Belt” approach may be right for you.

Dimensions in Quality can provide White Belt, Yellow Belt and Green Belt training.  These courses can be customized.  White Belt is a half day course, Yellow Belt is one day and Green Belt is a five day course.

We also offer Team Lead and Mentoring training.  Post-training project management and implementation is available as well.

Root Cause Analysis - This one day course explores the process of Root Cause Analysis to understand the underlying reasons why a problem exists and what can and should be done to effectively identify the source of the problem and eliminate it.

You will learn to effectively define the problem, analyze it, why of the problem occurred, and then develop alternatives and actions to eliminate the problem and therefore prevent recurrence.

You will learn to describe root cause and give examples, differentiate between root causes and symptoms of a problem, and learn and apply the tools of root cause analysis.

Included with the class will be an instructor-led problem solving session using an example of your choice so you can gain experience exploring root cause analysis.  You will also be provided with templates for future use in your on-going root cause investigations and analysis.

Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) - This is a one day course.  Failure Mode and Effect Analysis is a problem prevention and problem solving technique that pinpoints potential or real failure modes within a system and numerically classifies the modes by severity, likelihood and the relative degree of control or controls in place.

The primary purpose of FMEA to help prevent problems but it can also be used to solve known problems.  Anyone from Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales or other administration processes can benefit from this training.

At the end of the course participants will have practiced FMEA and will be able to:

· Describe the purpose of FMEA.

· Select an appropriate type of FMEA for your work (e.g. a Design or Process FMEA).

· Identify the basic steps and building blocks in FMEA.

· Describe the term Failure Mode and summarize the differences between Failure Mode, Root Cause.

· Define the categories of Severity, Occurrence, and Detection as they apply to FMEA.
